Welcome to First Baptist Church Youth Ministry
Our youth ministry DOES NOT exist primarily for entertainment or baby-sitting. It's a place where you feel welcomed, loved, and are allowed to be yourself while still being part of a group.
Our focus is simple....”to develop students of godly influence through positive adult and student relationships.” If you are in Middle School or High School and looking for a place to connect where you can....
....meet new people and deepen existing friendships,
....have honest discussions about relevant topics,
....and experience life in the exhilarating way God designed us to live it then, come check us out!!!
Blessings!
What are the ages?
The youth group is made up of teens from the ages of 12-18 years. This would mean typically, teens would be in 6th to 12th grades.
What does our youth ministry do?
In order to understand a little bit about what we do with the students at First Baptist you need to know that our events can be divided into three main categories...weekly, monthly, and yearly.
Weekly
There are two pivotal times a week in which our students meet regularly. These are the building blocks for the whole ministry.
Wednesday Youth Group – The first foundational block for our students occurs Wednesday night at 7:00 – 8:30. We hang out, play games, eat some food, and meet in small groups to discuss the Word of God.
Sunday Student Bible Study – Our second foundational block happens every Sunday morning 9:00 – 10:15. Our students meet in a class designed just for their age. A topic is studied that directly pertains to their walk with Jesus Christ.
Monthly
We try to have at least one major activity a month. Some things that we might do are: Ski Trip, Sledding/Tubing, Hiking, White Water Rafting, Picnics, Billings Baseball Games, Cody Hockey Games, Board Game Night, Concerts, Paintball, Destination Unknown, and the like.
Yearly
Winter Retreat – On Presidents Weekend in February our students pack the bus and head out for a weekend getaway. There are plenty of snow activities, and more importantly, challenges from a special Bible Teacher.
Super Bowl Party – Every year we have an evangelistic outreach into our community using the great American game called football.
Acquire The Fire – This is a huge Youth Event held in Denver, Co. It is a conference to challenge our students to be “On Fire” for the Lord!
Hills Alive – This event is held in Rapid City, South Dakota and it is a huge Christian Music Festival where top Christian Bands come and use one of the great tools to challenge our students to live for Jesus.
Summer Camp – Our Students join together with other students at Camp Bethel to spend the week in an awesome time of Fun, Food, Fellowship and Great Bible Teaching. We also work with and support Camp Wannabe here in the Powell area.
What is the Purpose, Goals, and Strategies of our Youth Ministry?
Purpose Statement: To introduce Middle School and High School Students to Jesus and develop them into SOLID FOLLOWERS of Jesus Christ!
A Solid Follower of Jesus Christ is one who illustrates the CROSS:
Connected to the First Baptist Church Family.
Reaching for maturity in Christ.
Offering praise and worship to God.
Sharing Christ with the lost
Serving others through ministry.
We accomplish these goals by following these three steps:
1. Wrapping the WORD of God around ourselves.
2. Building Deep RELATIONSHIPS with each other.
3. And By Doing LIFE Together.
Strategies we will use to help us accomplish these three steps:
Outreach Events – Super Bowl Party, Sledding/Tubing, Hiking, White Water Rafting, Sports, Ski Trips, Under The Lights Flag Football, Bike Trips, Paintball, Airsoft Games, Concerts, Snow Camp, Picnics and more!
Service Projects – Awana Leaders, Mission Trips (in and out of the country), Community Service Projects, Camp Bethel Work Days, Soup Kitchens, Food Bank Drives, Harvest Banquet and more!
These will be our three main purposes:
1. Evangelize Lost Teenagers
2. Disciple them into Followers of Jesus
3. Train teenagers to reach others in their culture by living in their culture but not being of it.
